Established in 1946, this is one of Ireland’s major tourist attractions. The National Stud covers almost a thousand acres and is a busy working stud farm with a renowned training centre for stud management attached.

There’s also a very interesting museum here where you can learn all about Irish horses. It’s got many interesting and well presented exhibits. You can see the skeleton of Arkle, one of the most famous horses sport has ever known.

Most people find that simply observing the mares and foals grazing naturally in these idyllic fields is the best part of the visit. You’re free to walk around and wander thro ugh the fields for as long as you want.

There’s also the Japanese Gardens (the finest Japanese Gardens in Europe) and Saint Fiachra's Garden (spectacular woodland and lakeside walks).?This is a destination enjoyed by gardeners as much as horse lovers.
