Ireland has some of the most beautiful surfing backdrops in the Northern Hemisphere. Every year more and more amateur and professional surfers are coming to Ireland to surf the secret emerald coastline with it’s top quality swells and uncrowded beaches.
Ireland has been blessed with many top quality surf spots. Some of the best are Lahinch, Easkey and Portrush. The beaches are uncrowded, especially in winter and there’s always enough space - a wave for everyone.
Donegal bay is another top quality location. It’s a complete swell magnet, with some excellent surf spots dotted all over it - a huge variety of uncrowded reef and beach breaks with predominant offshores.
The best time to surf in Ireland is from September to May each year. We get plenty of powerful swells during this period. The only problem is the cold, it’s bloody freezing! But the quality of the waves will more than make up for it. Anyone who’s been here will agree. All you need is the proper suit. |
