Munster is in the southwest of Ireland. It’s home to Cork, the second largest city in the Republic of Ireland and the largest county in Ireland. Cork City, is over 800 years old. Munster also contains the counties of Clare, Tipperary, Limerick, Waterford, Kerry, and Cork.
In ancient times, Munster didn’t really have any clearly defined capital. This was probably because it didn’t have the same dynastic rules as they had in other provinces like Ulster and so on.
Some of the great legendary characters associated with Munster are Fionn mac Cumhal and his Fianna, and King Cormac mac Art. All epic figures in their own right.
