These spectacular gardens are set out to represent a journey of the soul though life. You can walk through all of the various stages.

First the soul starts off with nothing as it’s looking for and finding its body. During the birth stage, you walk through a rocky cave and then into a dark tunnel that’s meant to represents the lack of knowledge of the child.

Then it’s a steep climb up the hill of learning where you can then choose which path you want to take. There’s the straight path of the bachelor, the cherry-tree lined way of the self-indulgent or the central, riskier, path to the Island of Joy and Wonder, where marriage is the reward.

The final climb is up the hill of ambition and achievement; there are several blind paths here which represent the difficulties of married life. Eventually you’ll walk into the Garden of Peace and Contentment. This is a beautiful resting point, surrounded by shaded trees and with flowing water. At the end of the walk there is the Gateway to Eternity where you’re journey though life ends…
